10 Essentials When Planning Your Kitchen

LAUREN TAVNER Kitchens

10 Kitchen Essentials, when planning your Kitchen. Planning your dream kitchen can be a daunting task, especially when picking out your goods. It can be easy to forget those little details which can transform your kitchen simply but effectively!

1.   Upstands

Opting in for upstands with your worktop choice can make a huge difference as it allows for a smooth transition between the worktop edge and the wall. If you are going for granite or Quartz countertops, we think upstands are essential as they add that wow factor to the space and showcases the beautiful material you have chosen even further.

2.   Handles

When choosing your handles, it is essential to match the style of kitchen you have gone for. A more traditional range would require a knob and cup style handle, in our opinion, and a contemporary style range is complemented with a bar handle mostly. You may choose a gold or black finish on your handles for a modern range compared with a chrome or stainless look for a traditional range.

3.   Finishes

The finish of your appliances can be one of the most effective choices you will make when choosing your kitchen! I personally think matt black finishes on a tap or handle contrast with a marble splashback or worktop beautifully.

4.   Smart appliances

Having smart appliances really gave our kitchen at home that wow factor and impressed friends and family who came over. We had the Neff integrated coffee machine which saves your name to ensure your coffee is made just how you like it! I think that smart appliances can really create a personalised feel in your home while making your life easier in the kitchen. We particularly love the Samsung family hub fridge freezer which is wifi connected.

5.   Underfloor heating

Many people forget that underfloor heating exists! This feature is definitely an essential in our eyes, especially in those winter months. At home, we actually use our underfloor heating alone in the Kitchen as it produces enough heat to warm the space without using the central heating which can be a great way to save energy.

6.   Larder pull outs

One of the most important essentials for us has to be pull outs. Pullouts are an excellent way to use up all of that valuable space in your kitchen while allowing you to stay organised.

7.   Boiling hot tap

Hot taps are viewed as a luxury item to many however there are cheaper alternatives to the more upmarket brands of boiling taps. We supply and install brands such as Quooker and Abode. When making those cups of coffee in the mornings or cooking a meal for your family, having instant boiling water is a game changer!

8.   Plinth lights

If your style is modern, plinth lights are essential to pull off that classy, contemporary look. However, plinth lights also suit the traditional ranges as they allow you to bring a touch of elegance and wow factor to the room. We would recommend small circle plinth lights for the traditional ranges and LED tape lights or the small circle lights for a modern look.

9.   Splashback

Adding a splashback can add a pop of colour to your kitchen or create a sense of degedance when matched with your worktop choice. Quartz and granite splashbacks are a stunning way to add a touch of class to the room. At Trademark, we offer a range of different splashback styles such as glass and Alusplash.

10.   Pull-out bins

Integrated bins are often overlooked when planning yet they are such an essential! Pull out bins are hidden which means that you can maintain a clean and hygienic space. We supply and install a vast range of styles so our customers have plenty to choose from!
